The master switch. Off hides cameras from the map and silences them.

Camera database#

Cameras come from the SpectreNav camera database, built for two regions: North America and International. The app downloads the one for where you are and keeps it on the phone, so alerts work offline.

  • Update automatically checks once each time the app starts and installs a newer build of the database.
  • Check for updates does it now. The installed version and revision are shown.
  • With automatic updates off, Import from file loads a database you have saved.

The database combines public map data with camera reports submitted from the app and reviewed by SpectreNav. See Reports and cameras.

Camera types#

Each type has a switch, an Alert mode (Disabled, On-Screen Only, Voice Only or Both) and an Alert distance:

Speed camera · Red light camera · Average speed start · Average speed end · Lane · Bus lane · Dummy · Distance · Overtaking · Pedestrian crossing · Height · Weight · Entrance · ALPR camera

Tones are per radar band, not per camera type; camera alerts use the voice.

Mute the detector at cameras#

Mute at known speed cameras under Alert filtering keeps the detector quiet at a fixed speed camera the app already knows; the camera alert still shows.

Avoiding cameras on a route#

Camera avoidance is a route option, not an alert setting: see Route options.
