Automations

Switch detector profiles automatically when you arrive in or leave a state, county, city or an area you draw, and test which one applies at a place.

Updated October 31, 2026

An automation pairs an area with the profile to use inside it and, optionally, the one to return to on leaving.

The Automations list
Menu → Settings → Detector → Detector profiles → Automations

Open#

Menu → Settings → Detector → Detector profiles → Automations.

Create one#

Tap New automation.

  1. Area: a State (one or several), a County, a City, or a custom area. For a custom area choose Set Center on Map and a radius, or Draw Boundary on Map for a polygon.
  2. When: Arrive, Leave or Both.
  3. Then switch to: the profile for each detector type you own, or No change. On leaving, the default profile is used unless you pick one.
  4. Save. The automation is on; toggle it off from the list without deleting it.

Automations need location and a connected detector. If you cross a boundary while the detector is off, the profile is applied when it reconnects.

Priority#

When areas overlap, the one higher in the list wins. Tap Edit to reorder. Inside now marks the automation that currently applies.

Test a location#

Test automations opens a map. Tap anywhere, or search an address, to see which automation applies there and which profile it switches to. An automation that loses to a higher one reads "Ignored: one higher in the list wins".
