Mute, snooze, mark a camera or start a voice command from a Flic, a steering-wheel media key or a Bluetooth clicker, and talk to the app with a wake word.

Buttons#

Menu → Settings → Detector → Buttons. Control SpectreNav from a button you can reach without looking. Off by default.

The Buttons screen
Media buttons, Bluetooth clicker, Flic 2, Actions
  • Media buttons: steering-wheel or headset media keys. Play/pause is a press; next and previous are a double press and a hold. On iPhone they work only while SpectreNav is playing audio.
  • Bluetooth clicker: any Bluetooth shutter remote, presenter or keyboard. Use volume keys as the clicker works on Android only.
  • Flic 2: hold the Flic for a few seconds to put it in pairing mode, then tap Pair. Click, double click and hold come from the button itself.

Actions maps each gesture to Mute / unmute, Snooze current alert, Mark a camera here, Listen for a voice command or Nothing. A mark saves a quick camera report at your position, facing your direction of travel, the same as the Report button. Confirmations follow your notification profile and never talk over an alert. Test shows the last button event so you can check a button is recognised.

Voice control#

Menu → Settings → Detector → Voice control. Tap the search microphone on the map or the car screen, or a mapped button, then speak a command. Recognition runs on the phone.

The Voice control screen
Push to talk, wake word, commands
  • Push to talk: the microphone button or a mapped button.
  • Wake word: hands-free. The built-in listener keeps the on-device speech recogniser running and watches for the phrase; it uses noticeably more battery and can miss the phrase over loud audio. A Picovoice keyword is lighter and more reliable and needs a free access key; the keyword is one of its built-in words. Keep listening in the background shows a persistent indicator while it listens. Say the wake phrase, wait for the chime, then the command.
  • Speak confirmations reads back what was done.

Commands#

Mute, unmute, snooze; detector mode (all bogeys, logic, advanced logic, city, highway, auto); volume up, down or a level; range in, out or a distance for the predicted source; report police or a camera here; where am I; status; repeat last; help. Mode and volume commands go to the connected detector; a Uniden or Radenso goes quiet for about two seconds after a change.
