Uniden R series

Pairing and using a Uniden R4, R4W, R8, R8W, R9 or R9W with SpectreNav, and why settings are best changed while parked.

Updated October 31, 2026

What you get#

  • Alerts on the map with strength on the Uniden's 0 to 8 scale and the detector's own mute state.
  • The detector's settings on the Detector page: bands, K scan, Ka segments and K-block; volume, brightness and colours; mode, voice, Quiet Ride and GPS.
  • Profiles, automations and alert filtering like every other detector. Speed-aware muting sets the Uniden's Quiet Ride.

Pair#

Power on the detector and turn Bluetooth on in its menu. It shows up as R… followed by an @ code. Menu → Detector → Devices → Pair a detector → Uniden R series. Pair in the app, not in the phone's Bluetooth settings.

Detector page#

Sound & display Volume, brightness, colours

Mute#

The detector's mute button, the signal card, a mapped button and voice commands all mute and unmute; the Uniden reports its mute state a moment late, and the card waits for it.
